Do all roads lead to God?

There is a common belief (universalism) that there are many paths that will lead you to God / Heaven.

In short, this belief tries to assert that each religion has a specific roadmap, and if you follow that path, it would eventually lead you to God. Like climbing a mountain, you could take many paths, but they would all lead you to the top.

So is this true?

I believe not because each religion at its core believes in certain fundamental ideas that would contradict each other and God’s nature.

If each pathway were indeed leading us towards the same God, then would it not present us with a similar view of God?

Another fact to be mindful of is that the enemy of God – Satan will seek to perverse the truth to lead mankind to destruction. However, while it is noble to respect another person’s religious faith, there is a much higher issue at stake here – The question of truth.

Everyone believes that they are sincerely right about their religious beliefs, yet they could still be sincerely wrong.

According to the Bible, the truth is a life-or-death matter, and the truth can set us free.

John 8:32 (NKJV)

“and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

The theme of Christianity centers around the man Jesus Christ whom the Bible claims is the only Savior of the world, who offers forgiveness and the free gift of eternal life for all who believe in Him.

John 14:6 (NKJV)

Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.

In conclusion, the truth matters, and a true believer in God should be seeking it. The Bible promises that for those who seek Him, God will reveal Himself to them.

So if you are genuinely seeking God, He will make Himself known to you through the person of Jesus Christ. The question is, are you heeding His voice? Or are you letting the world crowd you out and govern your thoughts and motives.

all roads lead to a dead end, but a lifetime walking with Christ leads to eternal life.
