What if I was not born in a Christian family?
Atheists usually raise this question claiming that Christians who believe in God are merely doing so because they were born into that family or environment.
Here are four arguments to consider in understanding and responding to this;
- If God would only enable people to be born in a Christian family, then many nations would be empty, and many civilizations would become extinct.
- If God would limit birth by other religions, then would it not be harsh on those wanting to have families but not being able to conceive just because they are from a different faith?
- Just because people are born into a specific ethnic upbringing, it does not necessarily restrict them to live in the same way. Yes, you could be heavily influenced, but nothing stops you from acting out of your upbringing. If God would even control that, we would all just be living as though we were from one tribe.
- God has not restricted human free will; He allows us to make choices yet also brings the truth to our realization for us to make a choice to follow or reject Him.
God has allowed for freedom of the nations to grow and flourish and for cultures to define themselves. God places value in our choices to choose Him and promises to grant us eternal life.
Yes, it is a great blessing to be born in a Christian family, but if you are not, then the call of God is for you right now, even more, to believe in His son Jesus Christ for your eternal salvation.
God is calling you to believe in His son Jesus Christ for your eternal salvation.
